The State of Arizona on behalf of the Independent Redistricting Commission(IRC) has issued a solicitation (IRC001 entitled: Outside Legal Counsel for Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission) that seeks proposals from prospective qualified independent counsel with experience in elections and voting rights laws as it pertains to redistricting matters.

The IRC was created as a result of a constitutional amendment approved by the voters in the 2000 general election. The amendment provides that the IRC may hire staff and consultants, including legal representation, to perform its duties. Const., Art. IV, Part 2, §1(19).
